Riven cheese is...
...horrible for the community. If it was intended they would not have spent the time designing the mechanics and encounter to be so involved. Honestly amazing fight that no one wants to do. The LFG is all "Riven Cheese" & "Riven Cluster Strat". I can't find a single post for a legit run. I made my own and got one person at 543 to join. Lol. I actually found one group but most people didn't even know the basic fight mechanics because they only ever cheese. If anyone is at light on XBL and wants to finish this let me know.

1000% agree with op Fix this moldy rotton cheese. Please. Last night I defeated riven for the first time as intended. It was immensely satisfying. In stark contrast when I defeated riven before with the cheese method, it was immensely unsatisfying. Riven of a Thousand voices is a beautiful raid encounter and it saddens me to see a vast majority of LFG players simply want to skip it. The desire to cheese riven is so widespread, it took very long to find a group of players willing to try riven the intended way. The riven cheese dampens my enjoyment of the game by limiting the playerbase willing to play the content I enjoy and that Bungie worked so hard to create. Please fix the Riven Cheese!

Edited by Jio: 10/6/2018 5:16:26 PMThey posted a video of people using the cluster strat in the twab, and while you don't like it, it's still an all or nothing strategy. If you fck up, it's done. There's no room for error much like with most of the raid. You use up all your heavy ammo as well. Also, while I definitely sympathize with wanting to do and learn it the "intended" way, the encounter is a long one for literally just one reward that isn't even guaranteed to be a good roll or the exotic, so eh, who cares? This week I completed the full raid for the first time, and while I had fun, the rewards definitely didn't make me want more. I'm only doing it again because I actually enjoy the encounters with a good group.

It wasn’t intended, but it’s still legitimate. A bunch of raid encounters are done differently from how bungie designed.

1 ReplyHmm. Lol'ing remembering I never new how to do the bridge section in Crota legit until they redid it for the end of D1. Looks like I might have the same experience here when I get around to doing the raid. Honestly though would have preferred to know entire encounter from beginning but couldn't get a group to do it. I'll have to be more disciplined this time around.

All they have to do is instant wipe if more than 3 players are in a downstairs room. Boom, fixed!

I literally tried wth 4 groups the legit way, wasted my time but I learned the mechanics joined a group last night and they told me set up sheild and hit riven with tractor cannon melted him first go. I didn’t fire a shot except for one tractor cannon shot. it took us longer to do the heart. I couldn’t believe how easy it was

It will be patched soon. I'm sure Riven will take less damage in the starting room soon enough or go immune after a certain amount of damage.

I beat it legit and found out about the cheese a week later. I was sad to see such a difficult encounter could be cheesed so easily. I have to be honest though I did the cheese 6 times since then. Mostly to save time and because most groups are not capable of beating it legit. There's a lot of people saying it's not a cheese but coming from someone who did both I tell u it is. Skipping all the mechanics feels cheap and should be fixed asap!

3 RepliesAre the people one plating calus also cheesing it? When dps becomes available, people should use the best strategy to do as much dps as possible. A cheese is some type of strategy where the boss can't hurt you or adds can't get to you. As someone that hasn't even had the chance to try the cluster bomb strat, I would like to give it a chance before you get them to nerf it.

Edited by Soventon: 10/4/2018 3:53:30 PMyea i havent even hit 570 yet so i havent tried but the first day of the raid bein out i was watchin streams and i was like 'wow this looks tough' but then a few days later, i see tons of ppl beating it and i already thought to myself 'bet they found a nice cheese already', then when i got home that night i looked it up and sho nuff theres all these youtube vids talking about the new Riven cheese...all the way back to pushing Templar off the map with solar grenades...still at it baby lol EDIT: had to correct it, forgot Templar was the one with solar grenades, for Atheon u had to use Nova Bomb on him

I'll hopefully learn it this weekend. I want to learn it legit because I can see Bungie eliminating that strategy and I dont want to be reliant on it. Gotta clear Vault first though!
