The Elder Scrolls Lore #1: Mundus, the Heart of the World, and the Continents of Nirn

Welcome, welcome to my new Lore series over here in #Gaming. I (and maybe a few others) will be joining me on our adventure through to deep story of games, such as TES, Fallout, Warhammer 40k, Mass Effect (maybe), and more! But you're here for the Elder Scrolls. So, where do I start? At the start of everything, of course! There are multiple cultures with different deities playing role, but today we're looking at the Elven story. It all begins with Anu.
"Anu encompassed, and encompasses, all things. So that he might know himself he created Anuiel, his soul and the soul of all things." ~ Heart of the World
This says that "Anu" is everything. From what I see, Anu didn't know what he was, so he created his soul, which was also the soul for the very first things other than him.
"Anuiel, as all souls, was given to self-reflection, and for this he needed to differentiate between forms, attributes, and intellects. Thus was born Sithis, who was the sum of all the limitations Anuiel would utilize to ponder himself. Anuiel, who was the soul of all things, therefore became many things, and this interplay was and is the Aurbis."
This states that Anuiel wondered who he is, and needed to know the things he could do. So Sithis was made, as Anuiel explored his abilities. Out if these studies Anuiel became a lot of different things. Him becoming other things is called the Aurbis, which is the emptiness between plaines.
"At first the Aurbis was turbulent and confusing, as Anuiel's ruminations went on without design. Aspects of the Aurbis then asked for a schedule to follow or procedures whereby they might enjoy themselves a little longer outside of perfect knowledge."
Originally Anuiel didn't know how to control the Aurbis. Eventually things in the Aurbis wanted things to do and orders to follow.
"So that he might know himself this way, too, Anu created Auriel, the soul of his soul. Auriel bled through the Aurbis as a new force, called time."
Aru created Aniuel's soul, which entered the Aurbis (universe) and created Time.
"With time, various aspects of the Aurbis began to understand their natures and limitations. They took names, like Magnus or Mara or Xen. One of these, Lorkhan, was more of a limit than a nature, so he could never last long anywhere."
The Things in the Aurbis started to figure out what they can/can't do. They made themselves names. One was Lorkhan, who was more of a limit, and he couldn't last long in most places.
"As he entered every aspect of Anuiel, Lorkhan would plant an idea that was almost wholly based on limitation. He outlined a plan to create a soul for the Aurbis, a place where the aspects of aspects might even be allowed to self-reflect. "
Lorkhan was planning on making his own "universe," so that smaller aspects could think freely.
"He gained many followers; even Auriel, when told he would become the king of the new world, agreed to help Lorkhan. So they created the Mundus, where their own aspects might live, and became the et'Ada."
Lorkhan told Auriel (Aru's soul's soul, confusing) he'd rule over his soul. So Lorkhan and Auriel created Mundus. The et'Ada are also known as the Aedra/Daedra.
"But this was a trick. As Lorkhan knew, this world contained more limitations than not and was therefore hardly a thing of Anu at all. Mundus was the House of Sithis."
Lorkhan actually tricked Auriel, because Lorkhan knew that there'd be less no-limits and more limits, making it under Sithis's rule. Remember Sithis is Aru's limits. In Mundus a planet called Nirn is formed. On Nirn there is Tamriel.
"As their aspects began to die off, many of the et'Ada vanished completely. Some escaped, like Magnus, and that is why there are no limitations to magic. Others, like Y'ffre, transformed themselves into the Ehlnofey, the Earthbones, so that the whole world might not die. Some had to marry and make children just to last. Each generation was weaker than the last, and soon there were Aldmer. "
Chaos begins! The Devine beings either fled, transformed, or had children in order to survive. It also says that the children of children became the Altmer. Altmer is another word for elf.
"Darkness caved in. Lorkhan made armies out of the weakest souls and named them Men, and they brought Sithis into every quarter."
Lorkhan makes Man. Man spreads through Nirn and makes limits for everyone.
"Auriel pleaded with Anu to take them back, but he had already filled their places with something else. But his soul was gentler and granted Auriel his Bow and Shield, so that he might save the Aldmer from the hordes of Men. Some had already fallen, like the Chimer, who listened to tainted et'Ada, and others, like the Bosmer, had soiled Time's line by taking Mannish wives."
Auriel wanted Anu to take Man back, but it was too late. Anu was kind and gifted Auriel with a bow and a shield to help the surviving elves. It details how some elves has worshipped "tainted et'Ada," or Daedra. It also says that the wood elves had made relations with non-Elven species.
"Auriel could not save Altmora, the Elder Wood, and it was lost to Men. They were chased south and east to Old Ehlnofey, and Lorkhan was close behind. He shattered that land into many. Finally Trinimac, Auriel's greatest knight, knocked Lorkhan down in front of his army and reached in with more than hands to take his Heart. He was undone. The Men dragged Lorkhan's body away and swore blood vengeance on the heirs of Auriel for all time."
Man attacked the elves before Auriel could do anything about it. Lorkhan followed the men to the Old Earthbones (which I assume is Aldmeris, birthplace of the elves). Trinimac (Auriel's Warrior) killed Lorkhan and took his heart. The Men buried Lorkhan with honor, swearing against the elves.
But when Trinimac and Auriel tried to destroy the Heart of Lorkhan it laughed at them. It said, "This Heart is the heart of the world, for one was made to satisfy the other." So Auriel fastened the thing to an arrow and let it fly long into the sea, where no aspect of the new world may ever find it."
And finally, when the Warrior and the Champion tried to destroy it it didn't break. So Trinimac tied it to an arrow and shot it into the sea, so nobody could use it. Edit 2: Auri-El, Anui-El, not the other things I listed. Sorry! Ok, onto Nirn's Geography! Tamriel is made up of nine provinces; Morrowind, Skyrim, High Rock, Hammerfell, the Summerset Isles, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Black Marsh, and finally, the center province of Cyrodiil. Akavir is made of four main parts and three small islands. Mainland: Tsaesci, Tang Mo, Ka Po' Tun, and Kamal. Islands: Esroniet, Yneslea, and Cathnoquey. Atmora is the northernmost landmass on Tamriel. Atmora is also the Home of the Nords. Aldmeris is the southernmost landmass, and birthplace of the Elves, or mer. It is almost completely unknown, from geography to natural life. Some people questions it's very being. Some elves say that it's only a bunch of pictures in the Elven Brain, and they say they get this information from the actually Elder Scrolls. And finally, Yokuda. A collection of islands which housed it's native people, the Redguards, some Redguards say they left because their people made it sink into the Eltheric Ocean, or maybe the Sea of Pearls and the Azurian Sea. So that's it for now. If I missed anything let me know! See ya! Edit 1: Top Trending! Also if you guys like Destiny lore, I have some Destiny Lore on small subjects, like Blinking, Composition, and enemy mechanic lore. Just search for #CyberDestiny !
