Well theres 2 ways of going about it: 1. Rage, get mad, send them hate message. By doing this though, remember it is essentially like "Giving in" or "Letting them Win" They were able to affect you emotionally and whether thats what they intended to do is not going to change the fact that you are letting them put you down. My old man used to say "Don't put your sails into other peoples' wind" Meaning, don't value their opinion if it's negative. It's hard to Block it because it happens, but you are the master of your emotions and how you respond?, thats your choice, not theirs. That then leads us to option 2. Hit the in game report button and move on. Right now, Destiny is in a really crappy storm. I have no idea when that storm will subside, but all you can really do is wait it out or move to another state besides Louisiana (sorry Katrina victims, i know its not funny). What I mean to say though is Bungie knows the lag is a real problem right now. They know what they need to do to fix it. It is very probable they are working on a solution right now. But here's the problem and why it's taking so long for the storm (known as the lag storm) to subside: its because it takes Time. Bungie is either trying to write a new netcode to fix the problem, looking for a way to afford dedicated servers, or they don't have the resources to do either and are just waiting until sales give them the resources to do that. It sucks having to fight laggers, I see them almost every match and the way I deal with it is simple, yet affective. Ignore it. Yeah, thats easier said than done but eventually you get a good match and it feels worth it. It might not happen often (boy i know) but its all you can do really. You could quit, but thats up to you. (I quit before The Dark Below and came back for House of Wolves. I was still disappointed but I was less fed up so I gamed on) One last thing, if they message you, and you have even the slightest Inkling that its negative.........just delete it. Its like getting a note thrown at you by a bully in class. If you throw it in the trash it dont mean a thang. Also the bully shits himself cuz you pretty much just said "your opinion is meaningless" without even looking at him. Trust me, it works. I had a guy send so many messages after I ignored the 1st one. I just laughed thinking "wow, what a pathetic loser, he had to get recognition of his insults or else he feels worthless" XD TLDR; report and move on, forget about it as its not good to keep negative memories. Also hopefully Bungie will fix the lag..... One day.....

Appreciate the sobering ideas. Poor old Louisiana re-Katrina! Live in NZ & have a city that also went through a devastating earthquake. Five years on.. between an in-effective governance & multinational insurance companies being a allowed to get away with ultra slow payouts.. the town is a mash-up do new / smashed & crashed up! Re BUNGiE / PvP / Servers & LAG being a constant Thorn in the backside. Hav always thought that eventually the industry should catch-up (incl game design/software partners/ISPs etc). So yeah, the Gamer experience suffers..

  • How dedicated servers/connection based matchmaking is not a thing is beyond me. The only reasoning I can think of to not having connection based matchmaking is bungie is trying to hide the actual amount of current players. My thoughts behind that is quite simple, what if we keep seeing red bars because the actual pool of players is much, much smaller than we would believe. It would also explain part of why skill based was such a disaster. Then again though, titanfall actually shows the amount of players (region I think) and it's pretty Damn easy to find a full match quickly so I would doubt that being the case.

Quik qu on Titanfall.. do u matchmake with Buddies living on different continents & are u green-bar? What I'm getting at is when I Raid or PVP with buddies from diff locations, then the connection always suffers e.g. US ~ Australasia ~ UK / Euro. So what's the solution for a multibillion-dollar global industry? Can today's fibre optics & technology mix solve the Red Bar.

  • I forgot to respond to the tail end of your comment. Unfortunately its a matter of when those countries play catch up. From what I understand, overseas has a lot of metered connections, along with circa 05 speeds. I've heard of people in Australia especially having to ration data the way some of us ration our cell data. Once those bamdwidth caps are hit, the connection either dwindles (such as Comcast in the us), or they charge a stupid amount per 1gb. I think it's a matter of the services playing catch up, and something needs to be addressed with bandwidth throttling.

  • I do have a friend in the UK on xbl, and our connection has never been an issue. I used to raid with a ton of other people from overseas as well on ps4 and only on occasion would we have issues, with that being a friend of mine who is on a naval base. Hell, I was up in Maine this past summer and the hotel had no Wi-Fi but I had full 4g so I just hotspotted for a few hours to raid. I don't know what kind of internet people use, but I can say that basic 1.5mb dsl will even do the trick if your the only one using it. I think the red bars are people not in ideal range of routers, people sharing connections, people having an ok connection but streaming music or video while gaming, and in the case of one of my friends, his roomate torrenting at night. Torrents absolutely demolish any internet connection, I have 115mb down 15 up and if I torrent something, I can barely load google.
