First of all I just want to thank you for this. It's rare that someone actually posts real constructive criticism on these forums, let alone articulated accurately what most of us have been thinking in a compelling way. It does happen every now and again , but it's drowned out by angry, meaningless rants that do nothing but throw so many curses and insults at Bungie that it can be classified as verbal torture. I agree with you for the most part. One can't help but feel alone in Destiny's world, despite the so-called social aspects. The Raid is the only activity that requires coordinated teamwork, and now that is being hindered with the latest update the the Atheon battle. I do not think however, that it is the largest reason for the community's disappointment. Surely there are quite a few justified reasons, but I believe the one that has been on everyone's mind, and the one people have felt since the beta, is that we have been lied to. Now, whether it was done with intent or due to internal problems, I don't know. I'm in no position to speak with any certainty , but the fact remains ( and it certainly is fact) that this is not the game that was promised. In retrospect, I suppose we should have seen this coming. Destiny was presented to us as being a shining city upon a hill that all other games would look up to for years to come. ViDocs, interviews, and even game informer articles showcase aspects of the game that never made it into development, or got cut before release. Such features included full weapon appearance customization, larger environments, and above all, a compelling story. In the end, it doesn't matter how good or how fun the game is. We had been told one thing but delivered another. If you take a drink from a cup expecting milk but orange juice comes out instead, you're gonna be disappointed. It doesn't matter how good the orange juice is. You're going to be angry, because it was an unwelcome surprise. But I digress. Yes isolation is a large factor of the game, and it's so-called social features are severely lacking, but I believe that misinformation plays the largest role in public opinion about the game. Yes, Destiny is fun. And I must say I enjoy the game, but fun can only go so far. The game can't just be fun. It needs context. You need a reason to be fighting. And I do like the game, a lot, but I don't think I will be playing it much at all once the Master Chief Collection releases this November.
