I honestly do not care.

I would like to create a pole for Bungie devs and for those in the high ups of management to see. They say Linux is a modified OS, but its just an OS that is open source to the users, thus giving them more freedom and control They say WINE is an emulator but WINE literally stands for Wine Is Not aN Emulator, all it does is translate Windows instruction and API calls to something the Linux OS understands on the fly, don't believe me look at it here - https://www.winehq.org/ Apex has support for it. Back 4 Blood supports it. Elden Ring supports it. Why can't Destiny 2 support it? Destiny 2 is supported on Google Stadia, which is literally a version of Linux its googles obviously but its Linux under the hood. Playstation is running on a modified BSD OS, and XBox is running on a modified Windows install using the same kernel as Windows 10 with a different explorer.exe. The modified OS argument doesn't fit. So what is stopping Bungie from allowing it for SteamOS, Ubuntu, Arch, Pop_OS any of the other random distros Even if the devs want to say play on Linux at your own risk they wont help us with any issues we have game wise so be it at least we would get to play it. We already know the game will run using Proton, its been confirmed but accounts have been banned because of it which isn't fair to them. Literally allowing this would let more players play the game on their OS of choose.

 •
Destiny 2 is supported on Google Stadia, which is literally a version of Linux its googles obviously but its Linux under the hood.
But end user cannot touch the os to run anything other than the game.
Playstation is running on a modified BSD OS, and XBox is running on a modified Windows install using the same kernel as Windows 10 with a different explorer.exe. The modified OS argument doesn't fit.
But the end user cannot alter the OS, so it is not the same.
So what is stopping Bungie from allowing it for SteamOS, Ubuntu, Arch, Pop_OS any of the other random distros
The same thing that is allowing you to run your choice of OS, Bungie doesnt want to.
We already know the game will run using Proton, its been confirmed but accounts have been banned because of it which isn't fair to them.
It is fair, they broke the rules, and got banned. Bungie's in house anticheat doesnt work on linux, so it is seen as by passing AC.
Literally allowing this would let more players play the game on their OS of choose.
Your "choice" of OS comes with trade offs. Some apps are unavailable, some are unsupported, and some companies just do not want their software on a system they dont approve of.
Even if the devs want to say play on Linux at your own risk they wont help us with any issues we have game wise so be it at least we would get to play it.
And what about the bad apples, and you know there will be some, that use that opportunity to bypass half or more of the anticheat and mess with everyone else's game play?
Apex has support for it. Back 4 Blood supports it. Elden Ring supports it.
So play them?
Why can't Destiny 2 support it?
Again, there are numerous reasons for not allowing it, but boils down to, their game, their rules, and they dont want to.
