"I try to drink it away, but fail too. I'm unable to get drunk...sadly."
He smiled at Meredith, a fake one, but it was obvious he was at least trying to be happy.
"So, what brought you here?"

"Me? Well, it's.. complicated. I'm doing some spying stuff on the Dojo.. nothing's coming, I think. But if you know any mercs or guys 'n girls with big guns, well.. ...Look, I'm not a fighter. I could be, thanks to programming, but I talk most the time. I need people, that's.. that's a simpler explanation."

Chuck leaned back in the booth seat and sighed while running a hand through his hair. "I know of plenty of people you could hire, but now I'm wondering if you brought me here just for the knowledge I have about the people here at the Dojo."

"That.. wasn't the plan, actually.." Meredith didn't seem angry at Chuck for saying that. Uncomfortable, maybe even surprised, were the right words to describe her reaction. "So you.. think I'm just using you for info? I thought that people talked about nicer things 'n had a good time on dates, not use each other."

Chuck sighed, looking a little down because he accused her. "We should be happy and cheerful on a date. That's what they're meant for. Fun."

Meredith got up to actually sit next to Chuck in the next booth, wrapping her arm around him and biting her lip before speaking. "It's fine. I know what you mean, people seeming.. too nice, when they want something. I've dealt with those types before, you just have to deal with them and move on." Meredith was plotting though, if Chuck tried to cuck her. Hue hue.

He leaned on her slightly and smiled a little, happy to have someone at least acting like they care. "Thank you, Meredith. You're too kind. Dinner is on me tonight. Now, why don't we move onto something more happy?"
