It reached up to its "face" with its hands and seemingly searched for a mouth before resting its hands back at its sides.
"I don't believe I can smile. Does that mean I can't express happiness? Hmm. Why did you forget? For some reason I keep thinking of the word amnesia."

"Are you looking at some-" There's a slight buzzing noise and the being's face flashes blue a few times before returning to its normal color. "Oh....Now I feel...sad? ... For you? Why? Hmm... ...for some reason I believe I may have gone through something like you have and because I know the pain I feel closer to you. Like there's a connection....Is this compassion?" It looks back at Cyra.

Even her OS could support Google.[/i] "Compassion: Sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others." [i]The augmented female thought on that for a moment, running quick comparisons and searches matching the definition with things that already exist within Cyra's disc space.[/i] "... 'compassion' was never programmed into my OS. Another thing I'm missing, I guess." [i]She sighed, defeated.[/i]

"Never programmed? You need emotions programmed into you?...Do you want to feel compassion? For some reason I believe I know that an OS stands for operating system and for some other reason I see strange...patterns when you say programming. Maybe I could help?" The figure talked quickly, as if excited for some unknown reason.

[i]Cyra's gaze was solemn, and she shook her head at the being sadly.[/i] "In truth, I find emotions cumbersome. The one who programmed them into me... I don't know why he did. But he made me swear to him that I'd never get rid of them.... He said nothing about adding new emotions. And as such, I'd really rather not... my apologizes." [i]She said the last bit apologetically; a part of her wished she could simply be a normal person, and feel things normally.[/i]

[i]She shook her head when the being suggested deleting his emotions.[/i] "In a way, I don't want emotions precisely [i]because[/i] they make me alive... I've a feeling that I don't deserve to be considered alive. I'm a feeble excuse for a living organism, if anything... not truly alive, for I'm merely a computer in a flesh and blood body. "... but you should keep your emotions. At least, that's what he told me."

[i]She looked away, her eyes clouding as she made dozens of calculations and researched hundreds of bits of information in seconds.[/i] "Eukaryotic organisms, especially chordates like I, generally operate via a brain. Can I still be considered a part of these people if I do not operate via a flesh and blood brain...? Personally, I believe I can't. But nonetheless, while my heart still beats and my blood still flows, I am alive."

"I do not have a brain. Does that mean I cannot be considered alive?" It cocks its head to the side again. "Maybe you think poorly of emotions because the ones you are missing are necessary for your mind to work at full capacity."

"Perhaps it means you can be considered alive, but not part of the same species or family as the people you exist around... in my experience, that's the case." [i]Cyra then thought on the possibility that she was missing emotions. Which she knew she definitely was.[/i] "I am most certain that I am missing a good amount of emotions. But whether or not I am missing important ones, I'm unsure."

"If I were you I would seek help to fill in the missing emotions. You can always get rid of them if you don't like them, right?" The figure slowly stands back up, its knees make a loud whirring noise as it does so.

"In truth, I don't get to decide what emotions I like or dislike. There's a program installed on my OS that determines what's safe and what isn't safe... if the program dislikes it, it gets purged. ... the program was installed by the same person who installed the augments, so what he likes stays, basically. Otherwise... I would accept emotion aid whenever the need arises."

"Oh. So if something isn't safe it'll be deleted anyway. What's the harm in trying then?" The being's "wings" begin to move around in a stretching like motion.

"There is no harm. Where are you off to?" [i]She assumed that the being was about to flying off elsewhere.[/i]

"Off to? What do you mean?" It keeps moving its wings for a few more seconds before folding them behind its back. "The wings? I just get this strange urge to do that sometimes."
