"Why, you-" Victoria swore to herself as she kneeled down, the remaining piece of the fireball slamming into her armored shoulder and burning her armor as she took position behind Vance, beginning to rain firepower upon the pyromancer and her male counterpart. In truth, she would be gunning down the entire group, purposely attempting to miss Vance - he was her only ally here, and a problem that she'd have to take care of afterwards.

  • All of Victoria's bullets hit Vance and he died. As Victoria gunned the Contractees down, they began falling; it looked as though there was no defensive Contractee in the group. Soon, one man and one woman were dead, and it was just one man and the unbelievably strong woman. When the bullets struck the man, he literally did not feel a thing; didn't even know that Victoria was there. Basically, with good aim, an easy kill. The woman, however, was causing huge issues; her unbelievably strength was pushing him back. What the woman didn't account for was when Vance rapidly pulled the handgun from its holster, he placed the barrel on the woman's temple. And then she dead, she got dead after 'my adventure' Now it was just the annogying and stuff.

Victoria didn't waste any time to end the man's life, placing some rounds into his skull before rising up and looking over at Vance, sighing as she studied the mangled bodies of the Contractees. "That went considerably well. Next?"

  • As the blood of the Contractees flooded the ground, Vance looked down for a moment, his eyes filled with sorrow. He shook his head, clearing it; now was not the time. He turned to look at another group, this time of three. Deciding that he'd simply barrage them, Vance momentarily stowed his greatsword, and his hands ignited with firetricity. He punched midair, facing the group, then punched with the other hand. He quickly alternated hands between multiple punches, and each one sent a blast of firetricity towards the group. As each blast of firetricity struck the Contractees in the group, an explosion was caused; their flesh was torn away, charred, and Vance did not relent. Blast after blast, and they couldn't fight back. Finally, he seemed to be charging a final attack; in both his hands he formed a massive blast of firetricity, larger than any previous one, and let it fly. It met the ground, and the resulting explosion blasted the three Contractees into smithereens. Vance cracked his knuckles, and he had a feeling that attack had attracted attention of another group. It did, a group of five. Coming from their left, the group of five consisted of three men and two women. Vance, needing to regenerate his MP, drew his rifle from his left side, reloading it.

Victoria would find herself mildly disturbed by the electrocution of the four beings, although that hadn't stopped her from planning for the next group that they came upon. In a blur of motion, Victoria brushed ahead of Vance and began releasing round-after-round into the five's group. She had begun to clear her mind of thinking about the backstories and personal lives of the Contractees in general - a thing that would haunt her later on.

  • Victoria's first few bullets found themselves lodged in ons man, who had thrown himself in front of a woman to protect her; from the woman's expression, a lover. Another man–or actually, a mere boy looking to be around 13, made a gesture with his hands; the remaining for faded until they were invisible, and dispersed. Now, with their locations unknown, Vance had his rifle readied and aimed at any movement that wasn't his or Victoria's. They could attack at any moment.

If Vance could see Victoria's facial expression at the moment - well, he could see the despair in her eyes, and would probably realize why she looked the way that she did. First she had gunned down a man that wished to save what looked to be a lover - now she would be facing against a mere teenager? This wasn't right. At least, not to her. Yet she would carry on. The Palatine kept her firearm raised, although her intention was to bash it into the face of the first one that attacked, assuming that she would even have the ability of seeing them. She was more concerned about Vance, anyway.

  • The boy's invisibility spell was working like... well, a charm. Not a single sound was heard, not a single Contractee sighted. That was, until a sudden, extremely painful looking wound appeared on Vance's right arm; it looked like a stab wound, from a rather long weapon. He yelled out, looking around for the invisible attacker, but they were gone. A few moments later, the invisibility spell wore off. The attacker was the woman, who was about twenty yards away; the stab wound was a three foot long javelin, which was thrown at Vance. The woman held another javelin, readying it. Meanwhile, behind Victoria was the boy, holding a wooden club; he raised it, and aimed a slammed towards Victoria's head.

Victoria had turned to fire upon the woman, managing to release two rounds from her Bolter before the club contacted with her skull: a yell of pain escaped her mouth as she was forced to one knee for a moment, as the helm dented from the impact. She felt the warm drizzle of blood fall from the neck of her head, draping her neck and the side of her face. Victoria remained quiet as she suddenly swung her clasped fist in a spinning move, targeting the child's jaw if anything. She would not allow herself to be beaten and killed so easily - and she would not allow the same for Vance.

  • The bullets struck the woman, exploding; she fell, her flesh scorched and torn, to the ground. Suddenly, the boy screamed. "MOM!" He cried, before Victoria's fist met his jaw. He was knocked back, sent skidding on the concrete ground of the Dojoville streets. His young face was in shock, his skin pale, staring at Victoria in horror; unable to speak. Meanwhile, Vance turned his face momentarily to look at the situation. His expression was unreadable as he turned back to the conflict; there was still one man and one woman left. From the holster at his left, he drew his handgun, so there was dual wielding guns. With slow, precise aim, he fired a bullet from gun, then another from each, for two bullets in each Contractee; they died simultaneously, so neither could grieve for the other.

Victoria went suddenly still, her clenched fist shaking as her heart pounded. ...He said something else, he had to have said something else. But not "Mom" - anything other than "Mom". Victoria shakily rose, her head shaking as deep breaths emitted from her helmet. She was a murderer, was she not? She was no better than those that she condemned: first the woman who begged for death, now the mother and soon, the son. While her face was hidden by her helmet, a silent tear streaked down from Victoria's eye, making its way down her cheek. There was nothing that she could say. There was nothing that she could do to make the situation any better.

  • Vance had grown tired of it, really. The endless mindless slaughter on his own part, destroying families, friendships, relationships... breaking hearts. Being a complete monster. Part of him no longer wanted to do it, was sick of seeing the same look on people's faces when their loved ones died before their eyes. And so, he walked up to the boy, gripping the handgun by its barrel, and struck him in the back of his head, knocking him unconscious. Slowly, Vance picked the boy up, looking at his young face. Something in his expression said that he wanted to... help him, in some way. Meanwhile, the Contractees continued to roam; they'd noticed Vance and Victoria, but seemed unwilling to approach them just yet.

"...Get the boy to a safer place. I'll hold them off, just...find somewhere that he won't get caught between our fighting." Victoria spoke with a sterner tone than beforehand, not bothering to speak anymore as if it would be a waste of words. She had seen enough - killed enough for the night. She knew the child would hate her for the rest of his lifetime, however long that would be. She sighed, batting away the tears in her eyes with quick blinks as she studied the groups of Contractees that were nearby and locatable. She would have to fend them off, and was more than willing to - even if that meant delving deeper into insanity.

  • Vance looked over at Victoria, his expression conflicting. For a moment, he looked to be almost in admiration; on the the other hand, a tad bit jealous. But these appearances were wiped out soon after as he pondered what to do; he couldn't leave Victoria there to continue the slaughter he began. He couldn't let another person die.... He shook his head at the Sororitas in disagreement. "You're coming with, or nobody's leaving," He said flatly, eyes meeting Victoria's. His own eyes were dry, no longer capable of crying in the current situation they were in; he had grown far too used to it. Vance would've extended a hand, if both his arms weren't preoccupied.

After an odd silence, Victoria nodded calmly, holding her Bolter tightly while still looking upon her only ally in the situation. "Then we should begin to move, sir." "Sir" was...a complement from Victoria, if anything. She had been taught to address higher beings with politeness and elegance, but since she was quite far from said higher beings, and Vance was both her only "friend" and unknown name-wise, she would refer to him as "Sir" until she could identify him by name. At any rate, she was more than ready to keep moving.

  • Vance looked around at the massive amount of Contractees, a pained, conflicting look on his face. "... goddammit, I feel like a coward," He muttered before looking towards the Dojo, sitting on its mountain. "Alright. Let's move." Still carrying the unconscious boy, he waited to sprint to make sure Victoria was still around, wanting to make sure she wouldn't do anything courageous while he sprinted away. Vance, of course, was not used to being addressed formally; he was taught differently from Victoria; to him, everybody who wasn't a Contractee was to be addressed as though they were some sort of god, and as though he himself was a rat; he had since broken this habit, but almost always used honorifics when addressing people who were not Contractees like himself.

"Just go, I'll follow.." Victoria murmured, signaling Vance to get moving towards the Dojo with sudden hand motions. She wouldn't be pulling anything ridiculous, least unless the horse of Contractees actually caught up with her. Then, it would be a bad situation - but she would still ensure that Vance and the child escaped.

  • Luckily enough, the HORDE of Contractees owner no horses. And so, Vance nodded at Victoria, and began sprinting towards the dojo with rather clearly enhanced speed; he was sprinting at a good 35 ft/s, and that was with a child in his arms. Once every few seconds, Vance would turn his head to check of Victoria was alright. It wasn't long until he was approaching the dojo gates, sweating and panting.

Victoria had kept up somewhat with Vance, although she was a considerable distance behind him still: she was moving at a rate that was above average, especially for a woman wearing full armor. She had looked back at the approaching Contractees, her speed still enough to provide a proper defense for Vance.

  • Momentarily, Vance set the boy's feet on the ground to support the boy with only one hand, using the other hand to open the gates. He looked back at Victoria; for a moment, a sense of urgency and terror was in his eyes, but that soon faded when he saw that Victoria was alright. He held the door open for the Sister of Battle, while laying the boy down on the ground to free his other hand. That hand drew his handgun, and with near pinpoint accuracy he began firing the handgun's .50 caliber bullets at the Contractees that had follower Victoria.

Victoria momentarily turned to fire a few rounds upon the chasing Contractees, .50 caliber rounds zooming throughout the nightly air, exploding upon contact with Contractees. Soon she had found herself next to Vance, firing alongside him and yelling as she began to reload her Bolter: "Go, now! I'll head through after you enter the...location!" Victoria, in truth...had no idea what the Dojo truly was. She had never seen a place of such design and elegance, yet flawless strength. It did not compare to the Imperium's cities, but it was something.

  • "Good grief...." Vance dropped his handgun, threw the dojo gate wide open, and with rather... frightening speed, he ran up to Victoria, grabbing onto her wrist. Victoria was suddenly pulled and hurled into the dojo before the gate could shut under it's own weight, however Vance couldn't make it back in time to get into the dojo before the gates could close. Looking back at the horde of Contractees – there were about 12 –, he sprinted to the dojo once more, picking up the boy. As the Contractees closed in, he managed to pull open the door and roll, Dark Souls style, into the dojo; a javelin struck the ground where his back was only milliseconds before. After getting inside the dojo he slammed the gates shut, panting heavily, and looking over at Victoria. "S-sorry about that," He grunted.

"...S-Sorry?" The Sister of Battle's tone was far from furious or anger, but it was filled with a strange confusion, and yet a gratitude, while also being muffled by her black helmet. Her body was sprawled against the Dojo's concrete flooring and lightly shaded grass, her back bent as she looked up at Vance in a sitting position. Victoria groaned, rising up and slinging her Bolter around her body as she stumbled over to Vance. "There...isn't a thing that you should be sorry about, sir. That was...well, kind of you, to bother sacrificing your well-being for...well, erm.. Never mind me, we should find a place for the boy to rest." Victoria stopped speaking, stuttering those last words out as she pried her helmet off: short, bleach white hair was released from the containment of her helmet, curly at the ends, as she looked upon Vance worryingly. Victoria looked...young, for a woman with quite the combat experience: her skin was a light pale color, yet slightly tanned. Her face was smooth and not exactly angular or round, while she didn't bear any makeup at all: then again, soldiers didn't exactly wear makeup. Her eyes were a light sapphire in color, like a clear lake's view, yet filled with a sadness that Vance was perhaps familiar with. "I'm not familiar with this place at all...what is this place? And it's inhabitants?"

  • Vance pulled his gaze away from the unconscious boy to look at Victoria's face. His body seemed to freeze in place for a moment, eyes unable to move; but he soon broke out of this trance, a barely noticeable blush on his cheeks. He looked back at the boy, running a hand through his sweat-drenched, shaggy black hair. He was indeed very familiar with the sorrow in Victoria's eyes; he saw it in the Contractees he once lived with. Saw it in the ones he killer. Saw it in himself, every time he looked at his own reflection. He sighed, pondering Victoria's questions. "... I'm not exactly sure, if I'm to be honest," He admitted, showing no shame. "It looked safe, and places that look safe generally are safe; until the roof opens and five Contractees drop on your head and try to rаpe you while your weapons are in a different room. Different story altogether." He shook his head, before inwardly agreeing to Victoria's earlier statement about getting the boy to safety. He picked the boy up once more, looking around the dojo for a place to lay him down until he awoke. Then, there was the question of... what he would do when he awoke.

"Dear me, that's...terrible. I...suppose that we should make proper introductions to each other?" Victoria nervously smiled, shrugging a little. The stern tone that was once within her voice was gone, replaced by a soft, guarding tone. Something that suggested that she would guard the boy and Vance from any more harm - especially after hearing about...well, what Vance said. There were a few wooden and metal benches against the walls of the Dojo, carved and crafted delicately. Some were in courtyards of their own, suggesting that the Contractees couldn't leap down from above the walls. "As for introductions - I am Palatine Victoria, Sister of Battle of the Order of Our Martyred Lady, of the Imperium of Mankind. A foreign fighting force dedicated to the survival of humanity in my realm. Of course, I've...likely been replaced and forgotten at this rate."

  • "My name's... just Vance. Nothing special about me." He shrugged while picking the boy up, moving him to lay him down on a bench. He'd likely wake up soon, but Vance and Victoria would also likely have a few minutes to converse. He looked back at Victoria, sighing as he sat himself on the ground. "I also haven't a clue as to what you just said, but why would you be replaced and forgotten?" He was definitely not expecting the answer he was probably about to receive. His own tone was still rather soft, quiet; curious, and a little admiring, too. As Vance spoke to Victoria, he glanced at the sleeping boy periodically, making sure to not be surprise attacked by the boy. He had a plan as to what he would do when the boy woke up; a plan that Victoria would probably not like, but one he would follow through with anyways.
