The three people he'd literally spent every conscious moment of his life, gone. His grief flares up before being consumed with rage. He leaps to his feet, firing a spray of plasma into the creatures around him. The aliens shriek as they swarm him, tearing at his armor with their claws. He meets them head on, knife and pistol drawn as he shoots and stabs left and right. A blast hits his helmet, tearing into his face. He tears off the helmet and continues to fight, blood pouring down his face.
