Yes. I've also been killed mid-super. Then again, I tend to prefer mobility over max armor, so I get killed a bit easier. I did find out that if you have Thermal Vent on with Scorched Earth and Fire Keeper, it creates a Sunspot and gives you an overshield as soon as you use the Super. Plus, it's always fun watching people kill themselves on my sunspots.
