Don't be an -blam!-

Remember not everyone has the same opportunity for skill as you do. Hey there, you don't know me. I've played destiny from when it began, I've played every expansion and never "chosen" to take a break, but I did have one forced on me. 2 years ago at Christmas I had a heart attack and died. I was resuscitated, but my brain was damaged, and now I have problems with my short & medium term memory. It means I really struggle with learning new changes in the game, or playing new areas. I used to be "average good", now I'm okay but I know I'm not the best. Mostly I just dawdle my way through this game playing solo, because I don't like to hold others back, but I am also a completionist, which means I like to complete storylines and get gear and stuff (I guess most of us are the same). One of parts of the game I avoid a lot is Trials, because you know ... Trials, but sadly for me I like to get the weapons and armour for everything that I can(by myself). I went into trials today to get the new hand cannon, dreading going in because I knew I was going to spend a couple of hours being cannon fodder, but hey, I've died many times before ;) so it couldn't be so bad right. Well in most cases it wasn't so bad, I pottered around getting beaten up and also occasionally getting some kills, but the last game I played was with the most obnoxious player I've ever come up against in destiny, who proceeded to send abusive messages telling me how rubbish I am at the game. I thought on the off chance of him catching this post, or anyone else who thinks being a digital ponce is okay, I'd just provide some feedback. In response to your questions : Yes, I am stupid(Thanks brain damage). Yes I am rubbish at trials(can't blame brain damage). I don't know if I'm the worst player ever, I think you were being slightly harsh there, I'm pretty sure there are worse than me or I would never win and I seem pretty average there :) My brain damage is permanent, your attitude doesn't have to be. Keep in mind this game is played by many different people with many different issues, don't make the only thing that people remember for is being an -blam!-.

  • OP: Turn off messages. Ignore or report any that slip through. 🧐 Know this…you ain’t the worst at Trials…there’s lots of us reasonable Guardians who might lay claim to membership of that particular group! Bravo to you for your grind / efforts! 😎 If you need a spare gun, my 0.5% old slowcoach tortoise a$$ is usually on around GMT+8hrs 😁 Chin up, Guardian! 👈 That is all. Ease Springs! 🖖👻 MTFBWY

  • Trials can sometimes get toxic. Matchmaking is always a lottery so either get a team yourself or make the best of what’s offered. I just ignore and report if I get a message but it does leave a bad taste. Only thing that pisses me off is cheaters. Somehow Bungie can’t seem to figure out how to flag and ban folks who use heavy from the get go or somehow land crits using a low range handcannon from across the map every single time.

  • Glad you're around buddy, eat some fish and sardines, it works wonders for the memory! Make it a weekly habit. The fried stuff from Costco works too

    • Yeah, some people takes this game way too seriously, they forget that they play with other human beings and that the world won't stop turning if they don't win everytime.

      • Don't worry about it. Some people are just sad enough in their lives that they feel the need to sell validation through games, and are only ever going to blame all failures on others. Had somebody yell at me this is weekend because he was constantly feeding the enemy, and it was somehow 'my' fault. Just block em and keep doing what you enjoy.

      • If you were playing on console, and if it’s possible, report the messages to MS/Sony. They tend to have less patience for that toxic nonsense. I have messages disabled unless someone is on my friends list. People using matchmaking are basically participating in a lottery regarding teammates. If they’re demanding a certain level of performance then the facility is there for them to get a team together.
