Everyone seems to talk about build crafting and making builds but the way bungie makes new gear requirements stops older players from coming back. As an older player doing catch-up it is hard to even get some of the weapon exotics that others have, and gear is a restriction all its own. I notice a lot of activities are equipment locked and find it most annoying. when I'm waiting to join other guardians I sometimes play around with my gear and end up locking in with the wrong setup. I liked it better when more activities had the freedom to change your loadouts on the fly. Now some activities or challenges should have a locked in loadout but not all by my book. I've had runs where I misread my champions or weapons needed for them and have to go to orbit only to restart for a simple mistake. I am also loving that fireteam ops have exactly 5 of 25 activities that matchmaking is on, the other 20 are make a fireteam finder posting and hopefully you find people to join you. Pinnacle ops there are 3 of 12 with matchmaking a little better a fourth of them over a fifth but come on let people just click on an activity and join matches as possible. A side note I also find it interesting that loot from older vendors is all 200 light capped. A better solution in my mind for more build craft would be to make it drop near your current level so you might try a new roll, or at least I would. It makes it all feel irrelevant to game play as a whole. Eva with the Halloween event was giving me 200 light, tier 2 max bad rolls for no reason it was an annoyance more than anything to me and if bungie wants higher lights to just delete it for resources I'm sure they could program a resource to be given instead of the useless weapon. To me it does seem that they tied tiers to light level already.
