They've always matched on a reasonably close power level basis, so if you're 1830 you'll get people 1820 to 1840, if you're 1750 you'll get 1740 - 1770 etc. I think it's done to stop high people getting lumped with low levels & having to do all the work. The guy above is right, thanks to the 1810 chest new players 1810-1815 are in the pool with the people who've played all season and are 1830+. Noticed this week when doing xenology that I'm seeing people who don't know which way to go in basic strikes. It's not a huge issue for the higher players & the guy above is clearly exaggerating about only matching 2s & 3s, but it is a bit frustrating when the only gun your teammates use is sweet business & are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. On the flip side & bungie don't realise this because they don't play the game, before the thundergods chest, new players start at 1600 n quickly get to 1750, then they do the seasonal stuff which also matches on power, & the pool of people around 1750 at any one time is super super low so they simply can't complete the content. Take deep dives, it's 1810, you go in at 1750 & it won't find anyone, you go in alone n it's not possible, it feels dead. There's lots playing it but they're all 1830+ so you'll never see them. Savathuns spire, deep dives, salvage, battlegrounds, coil, rivers lair, are all populated if you're 1820+, but if you're under 1800 it's a ghostown. There's absolutely no problem in putting 1 low level with 2 high n let them learn that way, 2 high can help each other, rather than put the low in by himself, die 50 times & never come back.

And? We aren’t talking about anything that requires much teamwork/communication/knowledge of the game. It’s a basic nightfall (not much more difficult than a regular strike). We don’t gotta be world’s first raider to do these things.

It's about light power and with all the 1810 gear you can get for free in the Hall of Champions I'm noticing way more noobs in regular strikes and nightfalls than the usual just because it's way faster for them to jump in those activities without a proper build or understanding of the game mechanics.

We are talking basic nightfalls. There is no builds/strats/etc needed for pete’s sake.
